A pilot was killed after the mid-air collision of two planes during Alba Adriatica air show, in eastern Italy on Sunday, 31 May.

The incident happened at Tortoreto in Abruzzo, killing 47-year-old pilot Marco Ricci. His body was later recovered by divers.

During the show, one of the two-seater aircrafts appeared to have lost its power, falling directly on the top of the other.

The other pilot, Luigi Wilmo Franceschetti, 43, crash-landed the aircraft, which flipped on the beach and he has reportedly escaped with minor injuries.
