Original Story

The decks have been cleared for the arrival of the new GLC SUV from the German luxury car-maker Mercedes-Benz. The GLC, which was previously known as GLK that never made to the Indian market, will announce its arrival on Thursday, June 2 in New Delhi.

The GLC, a mid-sized SUV which is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 45 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom), is based on MRA (Modular Rear-wheel drive Architecture) platform that underpins the C-Class.

Riding on 18-inch wheels, the GLC flaunts two slat chrome grille with the tri-star logo, twin-exhausts, LED taillight and body cladding. The GLC measures 4,656mm in length, 1,644mm in height, 2,096mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2,874mm. It boasts a boot space of 550 litres, which can be expanded to 1,600 litres.

Coming to the cabin, the interior looks similar to the C-Class and features Mercedes-Benz COMAND infotainment system, leather upholstery and a three-spoke steering wheel. Under the skin, the new GLC gets 2,143cc turbocharged diesel and 1,991cc turbocharged petrol motors.

While the diesel engine can churn out 170bhp and 400Nm of torque, the petrol mill has the capacity to churn out 245bhp of power and peak torque of 370Nm. The engines come mated to nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system.
