Will it, won't it? That's the most pertinent question that comes to our mind the moment a new Half-Life game becomes the centre of any conversation on gaming. But who are we to be blamed? Almost every month, fans are treated to false hopes that the third iteration of Half-Life is coming, only to leave them disappointed later.

To be honest, Half-Life is the victim of its own success. The game, all of its iterations, at one point of time, was the most massive thing to have ever been pushed out in the industry. And hence, it's only obvious that fans will look ahead to the next biggest release from that series.

Having said that, there is a lot that's been spoken and written about the game so far, and this month is no different. But what are the highlights that have been extracted from those rumours so far? Let's take a close look.

According to what has been said on Reddit, via an alleged former Valve game tester, Half-Life 3 could be set for a release in the last quarter of 2017, or in the first quarter of 2018. Apparently, the release of Half-Life 3 is said to come after the company successfully pushes out Left 4 Dead 3.

It is being reported that both the game releases will be close to each other, so as to make both of them available to fans at the same time, running on the likes of Xbox One and PS4. Apart from that, the former employee also "leaked" a list of campaigns and characters for Left 4 Dead 3.

According to Segment Next, here is the list of survivors on board for Left 4 Dead 3:

Irvin - A gangster, who, according to him, was the only one who was able to escape from his "hood"; he will be the new Francis/coach of the game.

Katherine - A stereotypical 24-year-old woman who used to work as a stewardess in a long-gone plane station.

Keenan - Another guy, but he's a comic book nerd; he's quite similar to Louis in a way.

Garret Jr. - A stereotypical buff guy, who is a famous Kenpō fighter in the L4D universe; his melee animations will be different compared to others, but balance-wise, it isn't any better than other people's melees.

There will be as many as six campaigns in the Left 4 Dead 3 game: Crash-land, Impasse, Inquisitor Land, Early Destination, Cliff-Hanger and No Mercy. The former employee stated that the game will be both a sequel and a prequel. This means, parts of the campaign will be on day one of the zombie apocalypse, while the rest will follow a month after patient zero has bit off a piece of victim number one.

Nonetheless, as far as Half-Life 3 is concerned, the alleged Valve game tester stated that the company "has been developing a new anti-pirating system that will lessen pirating by 40-50%." But, as of now, it seems like any "Half-Life 3" information will be for a select few. Furthermore, claims revealed that Valve is just stalling and is waiting for the hype to die down.

Not long ago, though, Valve CEO Gabe Newell had a thing or two to say about the game. And according to him, no Half-Life game is currently in production.

"The only reason we'd go back and do a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why," Newell said in a previous Game Slide podcast.

"But you know if you want to do another Half-Life game and you want to ignore everything we've learned in shipping Portal 2 and in shipping all the updates on the multiplayer side, that seems like a bad choice," he added.

Aside that, only recently, an anonymous leakster, who advertises on the website 4Chan, posted a supposedly leaked picture related to Half-Life 3. He divided the picture into 2,500 individual images, which, when pieced together, revealed the secret behind the game's mystery. The images were taken down later.
