A child named Ryan is earning millions at an age when we were probably watching cartoons. The six-year-old is the host of Ryan ToysReview — a popular toy-review channel on YouTube — and is now a multi-millionaire!
Forbes has said the primary school student's channel was the eighth-most financially successful worldwide in 2017.
The family-run YouTube channel generated around $11 million in pretax income in 2017, Forbes said in its annual list of highest-earning YouTube celebrities.
The channel started in March 2015, after Ryan watched other kid YouTubers doing the same thing and said that he wanted to try it out.
His parents told HuffPost in an interview: "Back then we didn't know you could make money from it." The rest, as they say, is history.
The channel now has 45 percent viewers based in the United States and only 6.6 percent from the UK, HuffPost said in a report.
The channel is now so successful that Ryan's mum Loann gave up her career as a high school chemistry teacher to be involved with it.
His parents said they are saving the money being made in Ryan's college savings plan and a trust fund for him and his younger twin sisters — Emma and Kate.
The children will be able to access the funds when they are 22 years old. And, that wouldn't come easily, they will get it only on the condition that they are in full-time employment.
The views on the channel weren't high initially, but went up gradually. In fact, the channel gained massive traction after it posted a video of Ryan unpacking a "Lightning McQueen easter egg." That particular video alone now has around 801 million views.
Last year, Josh Cohen, an industry analyst and founder of TubeFilter, told The Verge: "He is definitely the youngest YouTube star we've ever seen."
Cohen added: "It's the biggest of this genre of programming that is getting billions of views a week on YouTube. Really nobody is talking about it, but it's crazy once you start scratching the surface."
