Miss Oklahoma Olivia Jordan was crowned Miss USA 2015 on Sunday, 12 July. She beat 50 fellow contestants to win the coveted title at a glittering pageant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Miss USA 2014 Nia Sanchez crowned Olivia Jordan, who will represent the country in the Miss World pageant.

The 26-year-old model defeated first runner-up Miss Texas Ylianna Guerra, second runner-up Miss Rhode Island Anea Garcia, third runner-up Miss Nevada Brittany McGowan and fourth runner-up Miss Maryland Mame Adjei in the final round to win the coveted title.

Olivia Jordan pulled off very well in the bikini and evening gown live shows to ensure a place in the top 15. She then nailed it when she spoke on race relations in the country in the question round.

The pageant ended with a bang despite controversies around it following co-owner Donald Trump's distasteful remark on Mexican immigrants during an election campaign. He reportedly described Mexicans as "rapists" who bring crime to the United States, inviting outrage from several quarters.

NBC that usually telecast Miss USA pageants pulled out of the show, following Trump's anti-Mexican remark and other organisations like Miss Universe, Univision, Miss USA, and Macy's severed ties with the real-estate tycoon. Judges, hosts, and celebrities, who were supposed to perform at the event, also pulled out, dampening the spirit of the pageant.

Reelz Channel was roped in to telecast the pageant in place of NBC, and TV personality Todd Newton and former Miss Wisconsin USA Alex Wehrley host it.
