Maruti Suzuki is leaving no stone unturned in its attempt to grab a larger pie of the AMT market in India. After successfully launching its first AMT offering Celerio, followed by the launch of Alto K10 AMT, the country's largest car maker is now gearing up for an AMT avatar of its tall-boy Wagon R.

Folks at GaadiWaadi have managed to get a new batch of spy shots of Wagon R AMT, confirming that the standard variants of Wagon R and the Stingray versions of Wagon R will be getting AMT in the country. The upcoming Wagon R Stingray will also be getting AMT box from Magneti Marelli and going by reports, the launch of new Maruti AMT offering is likely to happen this year.

Under the hood, the upcoming AMT Wagon R is likely to be powered by the same 1.0L K-Series petrol engine, which churns out a power of 68PS and 90Nm torque. In the AMT avatar of the model, the transmission will be handled by Magneti Marelli's five-speed transmission.

As for styling and features, except for the minor tweaks in the engine, the Wagon R is likely to remain the same as the current model. The Wagon R AMT models are likely to be priced slightly higher than the existing manual versions.
