It is no secret that Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker, is readying a new seven-seater MPV based on its tall-boy design Wagon R.

Codenamed 'YJC', the new MPV from the house of Maruti is expected to make its market debut in 2016. Now, lending credence to the discussions, a record of Zauba that tracks the record of India's import and export data, says that Maruti has imported two units of new Wagon R MPV YJC to India for research and development (R&D) purpose.

As per the Zauba record, the YJC -- which is imported to India as CBU from Japan -- measures 3700mm in length. While one of the YJC is powered by 1,197 cc petrol engine, the second units in the Zauba list gets 1,248 cc diesel engine.

Other details of the new Wagon R models are scanty at this point of time as the model is in its initial stages of development. However, it was reported recently that Maruti will start testing the new YJC MPV in India soon and is likely to see the light of the day by September next year. It was also reported that the vendors of Maruti have already been directed to make the parts for its upcoming MPV.
