While the buzz around Marui Suzuki's upcoming mild hybrid Ciaz SHVS is growing louder day by day, the latest is that the car maker's other popular models like Ertiga and Swift Dzire are also getting ready for a hybrid makeover.

The latest interesting tidbit on Swift Dzire sedan came from the folks at GaadiWaadi who have managed to snap its AMT models again during test rounds. According to them, the AMT and hybrid model of Maruti's best-selling sedan could become a reality this fiscal.

Maruti's Dzire AMT variant has been doing test runs in the country for quite a while and carparrazis have revealed that the spotted test mule was a top-of-the-line diesel (ZDi) model that comes equipped with features like ABS and airbags.

The style and design of Swift Dzire AMT will remain just the same as the current model, with minor changes in the gear knob. The car should cost Rs 35,000- Rs 40,000 more than the standard variant in the Indian market. Under the hood, Dzire AMT is likely to get the same tried-and-tested 1,248cc DDiS diesel engine, which generates 75ps of power @4,000rpm and 190Nm @2,000rpm peak torque.

With Ciaz Hybrid SHVS' launch, Maruti is rolling up its sleeves again to lead the segment of hybrid cars like it did with the AMT models. According to reports, Maruti is planning to roll out the models with better fuel efficiency. The company is also planning to expand its SHVS hybrid line-up beyond Ciaz.

According to a recent report in The Economic Times, after Ciaz, Ertiga Hybrid from Maruti will also arrive in India in October. As for pricing, Maruti would be able to price the mild hybrid cars competitively as the models can be benefited from the FAME India scheme of the Government of India, which offers incentives on electric and hybrid vehicles.
