Maruti Suzuki Ciaz to Debut in September; Bookings, Price Details

Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker posted a growth of 33 percent in its sales for the month of June.

The company on Tuesday said that the total vehicle sales for the month of June stood at 1,12,773 units as against the 84,455 units in the corresponding month last year. The domestic sales of the company zoomed to 1,00,964 units last month from 77,002 units in June 2013; registering an increase of 31.1 percent. The export of the company also saw a growth of 58.4 percent to 11,809 units in June 2014, against 7,453 units in the same period last year.

Maruti's mini passenger segment also marked strong sales in the month of June. It posted a 52.1 percent growth in sales of its mini-car segment to 47,618 units, which includes vehicles like M800, Alto, A-Star and WagonR in June, as against the 31,314 units last year. In the compact car segment, Maruti saw a growth of 6.2 percent to 22,293 units in June from 20,996 units the same month last year.

The company's Dzire sales rose to 15,990 units last month from 12,548 units in June 2013, recording a growth of 27.4 percent. Sales of the mid-sized sedan SX4 rose by 2.5 percent to 322 units, as against the 314 units in June last year.

Sales of utility vehicles - Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga witnessed a surge to 5,003 units in June 2014, against the 4,997 units last year. The Omni and Eeco vans of Maruti also saw a growth of 42.5 percent to 9,738 units, compared to 6,833 units previous year.

The company rose 3.76 percent in trade on Tuesday to ₹2,530 on BSE after Maruti announced its sales growth for the month of June.

The auto enthusiasts in the country are waiting to see Maruti Ciaz and Maruti Swift facelift on the road during this festive season. First seen at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014, Ciaz is based on the Suzuki Authentics concept car and is likely to come with 1.3 liter Multijet diesel or 1.4 liter K Series petrol engine of Ertiga. The car will be pitted against Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento in the sub-continent and is expected to fall in the price brackets of ₹7.2 lakh to ₹10.5 lakh.

Maruti Swift facelift is also expected around this festive season and is likely to come loaded with features like LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), foldable rear seats, infotainment with Bluetooth connectivity and electronic foldable ORVMs.
