Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car manufacturer, has launched two new variants of its popular Ciaz midsize sedan. The variants – Vxi (O) and Vdi (O) – are priced at Rs 7.48 lakh and Rs 8.37 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively.

The Vxi(O) and Vdi(O) trims, available in petrol and diesel hybrid versions, respectively, come with features such as the anti-lock braking system (ABS), seat belt pre-tensioner, force limiters and seat belt reminder with buzzer at driver's side. Additionally, the vehicle will be equipped with dual airbags and other safety features.

"By offering the option of more safety equipment on our base variants, we want to encourage customers to buy cars that enhance their safety," said R.S. Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India in a statement.

With the two new variants, the Ciaz is now available in twelve variants. The prices for the petrol variant start at Rs 7.31 lakh and go up to Rs 9.65 lakh for the ZXi automatic variants. The diesel Ciaz starts at Rs 8.23 lakh and goes up to Rs 10.17 lakh for the top-of-the-line Zdi+ SHVS variant.

The Ciaz is powered by the 1373cc petrol unit that develops 91bhp at 6000rpm and 130Nm of torque at 4000rpm mated to five-speed manual transmission. The petrol variant is also available with four-speed automatic transmission. The diesel unit comes equipped with a small hybrid system with 1248cc displacement and develops 89bhp at 4000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1750rpm. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
