Maruti Suzuki continues to register good sales in India, riding on the success of its Ciaz sedan. The company posted a growth of 6.4 percent in total sales in August, 2015, as against the same month last year.

The company had sold 98,304 cars in August 2014. Last month, it sold 37,665 units of Alto and Wagon R, compared to 34,686 units in August, 2014, registering a 8.06 percent rise in the mini-passenger segment. The sales of the super-compact Dzire Tour jumped to 3,172 during August, 2015, up from 1,328 units during the same period in 2014.

In the compact car segment that includes Swift, Ritz, Celerio and Dzire, sales dip 11.3 percent at 41,461 units in August against 46,759 units in the corresponding month last year. The sales of Maruti's SX4 in 2014 were 50 units whereas, its replacement Ciaz clocked sales of 4,156 units.

The sales of utility vehicles Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga stood at 7,836 in August, up from 5,491 units in the corresponding month last year. The company sold 12,491 units of Omni and Eeco last month, compared to 9,990 units in August 2014.

Maruti's exports in August are down by 11.1 percent at 11,083 units, against 12,474 units in August 2014.
