Maruti Suzuki's highly anticipated Ciaz SHVS hybrid sedan made its India debut with a price tag starting at Rs 8.23 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti's new Ciaz SHVS launch event will kickstart at 12 pm.

Decks have been cleared for the arrival of Maruti Suzuki's highly anticipated Ciaz SHVS mild hybrid sedan. Maruti will unveil the vehicle in India on 1 September.

The bookings for the new Maruti Ciaz SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle) are already open and the new hybrid version of the sedan will be available only in diesel. The Ciaz SHVS will replace the current diesel version of the model and Ciaz's next model is set to become India's most fuel-efficient vehicle with a mileage of 28.09 kmpl. The current petrol model of Ciaz will continue as it is.

Under the hood, the new model will be using the same 1.3-litre turbo-diesel, but will come paired with a larger capacity battery, integrated starter generator and start-stop technology.

Maruti Ciaz SHVS Hybrid will be offered in Vdi, Vdi (O), Vdi+, Zdi & Zdi+ variants. In terms of the dimensions, Ciaz SHVS measures the same as the current model with 4,490mm in length, 1,730mm in width and 1,485mm in height. The Ciaz has a ground clearance of 170mm and a wheelbase of 2,650mm.

As for styling, Ciaz SHVS remains the same as the current model except for the 'SHVS' badge at the rear.

On the safety front, the vehicle will have airbags, anti-locking braking system (ABS), and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) system.

Rumours indicate that the new Ciaz SHVS will be priced at a premium of Rs 45,000 over the current model.
