The engine specifications of the new Celerio diesel version have  been leaked on the web just ahead of its launch.

The folks at GaadiWaadi have managed to lay their hands on the official powerpoint presentations of the company that provide details about the new self-developed engine of Maruti. Going by this report, Maruti's indigenously developed 793 cc, 2-cylinder unit diesel mill is the lightest engine at 89kg available in the country and has the capacity to dish out 47 bhp of power at 3,500 rpm and 125 Nm of peak torque at 2,000 rpm. The upcoming Celerio diesel will become India's most fuel efficient model with an ARAI-rated mileage of 27.62 kmpl and the model will compete against the likes of Chevrolet Beat and Hyundai Grand i10.

In terms of the style and other features, Celerio diesel will remain the same as the existing model in the country. As of now, there is no AMT for the diesel Celerio and the engine will come mated to 5-speed manual transmission.

To be available in LDi, VDi and ZDi variants, just like the petrol model, the Celerio diesel is likely to be priced around ₹60,000-₹80,000 more than the current model in the market. The Celerio diesel is expected to make its market debut on 3 June.
