The stage is all set for Maruti Suzuki's new premium hatchback Baleno, which will be launched in India on 26 October (Monday). The auto enthusiasts in the country have already heard enough about this new Baleno hatchback from the house of Maruti and have a clear picture of what to expect on the arrival of the model.

Now, before Maruti officially breaks the cover of its Baleno, coming your way is the last set of spy shots of the Baleno, which popped up on The Automotive India forum. The latest spy shots of Baleno tell us that the model has started arriving at dealerships ahead of its launch.

Maruti Baleno, the first premium hatchback to be sold through the new Nexa dealership chain of Maruti, will be squared off against Honda new Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20 in India. The Baleno measures 3,995mm in length, 1,745mm in width and 1,500mm in height with a wheel base of 2,520mm. The car features 339-litres of boot space and 37-litres of fuel capacity.

Under the skin, new Baleno of Maruti will be powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine developing 83bhp and 115Nm of torque, and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine will churn out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while the petrol engine is also available with CVT automatic gearbox. While the DDiS diesel engine is tuned to deliver 'fuel efficiency of 27.39kmpl', the petrol unit returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.4kmpl.

To be sold in Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants, Maruti Baleno will be offered in seven body shades: Granite grey, Solid fire red, Premium urban blue, Autumn orange, Metallic premium silver, Pearl arctic white and Ray blue.

The bookings for Maruti Baleno are underway in the country and when launched, the premium hatchback offering of Maruti is expected to get a price tag in the range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh.
