The upcoming Baleno 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol has made yet another appearance online through spy shots, this time giving a closer look from virtually every possible angle of the car. The Baleno 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol, which will also be an export model, will be launched in India as Baleno RS.

The Baleno RS will join the line-up of Nexa showrooms in India. Currently, Nexa sells the Baleno premium hatchback and the S-Cross. Maruti has sold over 70,000 units of the Baleno in India and is expected to increase sales with the new Baleno RS variant.

Coming back to the spy shots snapped by Gaadiwaadi, the test mule of the Baleno 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol is seen without any hint of camouflage. Although there is not much difference in terms of style and the design, the new avatar will get a sportier front and rear bumpers.

The major change is under the hood. While currently, the Baleno is sold in India with 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine, tuned to develop 83bhp and 115Nm of torque and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel mill churns out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque, in the powerful avatar, the Baleno will come powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine, which would churn out close to 110bhp of power and 170Nm of peak torque.

The Baleno RS will be launched in India during the festive season this year. Other features expected to be included are reverse camera, automatic climate control and 7-inch touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system with Apple CarPlay. In the Baleno RS, Maruti is also expected to offer ABS and dual airbags as standard.

The upcoming Baleno RS will take on the likes of Fiat Abarth Punto, Ford Figo 1.5-litre petrol and Volkswagen Polo GT TSI in India.
