Latehar, Nov 28 (ANI): Maoists attacked security personnel in Latehar district of Jharkhand and burned down eight tractors belonging to polling parties. A battalion of India’s paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was returning back to its posts when Maoists opened fire. They were retaliated upon but no injuries were reported. The village head of Sarju, where the tractors were burnt, Phuldev Uraav said that he didn’t know of the incident till the next day. The Maoists retrieved important belongings from the tractors before proceeding to burn them in a field. Maoists had given a call to boycott state polls and asked people to refrain from voting despite which voters came out in high numbers to practice their franchise. The five-phased polls in Jharkhand which began on Tuesday will end on December 20.
