Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini said he thinks his players deserved more, after they were held to a draw at Villa Park on Sunday (8 November). Of course we are frustrated – we deserved to win the game, the Chilean said at a press conference after the game.

They didnt shoot once in the whole game at our goalkeeper. These things happen in football and we were unlucky not to score in the three or four options [chances] that we had. I was very happy with the way we played, especially in the second half with good pressing and movement.

He added: I think we started a little bit by waiting to find out which kind of team we were playing – it can be hard when you face a new manager and you dont know the way they want to play. Then finally we played really well in the second half but didnt score.

The 62-year-old conceded the loss of Wilfried Bony to injury in the first half ruined his tactical plans, with Sergio Aguero already absent. Unfortunately Bony has that injury and it was difficult for us to replace him without Kun [Aguero], Pellegrini concluded.
