The long wait for "Rani Padmini" is nearing an end as the director of the movie Aashiq Abu announced that the shooting of Manju Warrier-Rima Kallingal starrer will kick start on 20 April. He also added that the movie is scheduled to hit the screens by October.

The rumours about the film have been doing the rounds for quite some time and now the latest news has spread cheer among fans. The script of this upcoming movie is written by Shyam Pushkaran and Ravi Shankar. The camera works is being handled by Madhu Neelakandan, editing by Saiju Sreedharan and music is composed by Bijibal.

"Rani Padmini" is touted to be a woman-centric film which revolves around the life of two women who are on a long journey to Himachal Pradesh from Kochi through Delhi. Though the lead characters are travelling to the same place, their intention and purpose for the journey is different. The makers say that the film can be included in the genre of a thriller and travelogue.

The director had earlier said that the movie does not have anyone who can be called the hero but it is about two women, their life and experiences.

Earlier, it was reported that Rima will star in "Oppana" directed by Aashiq but it looks like the team has dropped the idea for the time being and will go ahead with "Rani Padmini". Aashiq had earlier worked with his wife Rima for the film "22 Female Kottayam". The film enhanced Rima's reputation as an actress and won almost all the awards of the year for Best Actress, including Asiavision Movie Awards, Filmfare Awards, Kerala State Film Awards, SIIMA Awards (Critics) and Vanitha Awards.

Meanwhile, Manju's last release was "Ennum Eppozhum" along with Mohanlal, which is currently running successfully in theatres. With the kind of excitement around the upcoming movie, audiences are expecting "Rani Padmini" to be a landmark achievement in Malayalam cinema.
