Patna, Feb 20 (ANI): Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday stepped down as the Bihar Chief Minister, hours before he was to seek a vote of confidence in the state assembly. Manjhi had earlier met Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi at the Governor's House. Manjhi was locked in a showdown with former Bihar chief minister and senior JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar, who had handpicked him to take his place last year. The BJP had asked its 87 MLAs to vote in favour of Manjhi today while the JD(U), RJD, Congress and CPI had issued a whip to its legislators to vote against him. The JD (U) and BJP have accused each other for the current political crisis in Bihar.
