Louis Van Gaal continues to revamp the youth squad at Manchester United, with the manager set to sign teenager Kayne Diedrick-Roberts.

Van Gaal has had plenty to think about when it has come to his first team squad makeup, but that has not stopped the Dutchman from strengthening the youth teams as well.

Having already signed a few players who could become future stars over the last few months, Manchester United have now come to an agreement over a move for Roberts, according to the Daily Mail.

The 15-year-old was released by Fulham, who already had three other strikers at the same age group, who they believe have bigger potential.

However, the youngster has done enough to convince Manchester United that he is worth taking a punt at and Roberts, who can play across the forwardline, will officially put pen to paper and sign a professional contract in July.

While making moves for promising youngsters is one way to ensure Manchester United's future is in safe hands, what Van Gaal really needs right now is a turnaround in fortunes for his first team.

Manchester United were woeful in their 1-0 loss to Southampton last weekend, with that victory taking the Saints above them into third in the English Premier League.

There are also doubts over Van Gaal's relationship with star striker Radamel Falcao, after the latter was left out of the squad for the Southampton match despite being fit.

Falcao, who made a summer transfer window deadline day loan move from Monaco, was expected to complete a permanent transfer at the end of the season, but now doubts have grown over the striker's future at Manchester United.

It also remains to be seen if Van Gaal will do some business in the January transfer window, with the only major signing so far being Victor Valdes' free transfer.

Manchester United continue to be linked with players left, right and centre, and Van Gaal's priority will probably be an imposing central defender who can organise the back four and ensure they do not concede silly goals.

Mats Hummels is the obvious candidate, but it does look like it will be difficult to prise the defender away from Borussia Dortmund in January. Aymeric Laporte was heavily linked with a move with reports in Spain suggesting a deal to sign the Athletic Bilbao defender was "80 percent done."
