Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has dismissed rumours of him "promising" Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal that he would be moving to Old Trafford in the summer.
The 26-year-old future at Westfalenstadion has been subject to a lot of speculations this season, with many top clubs believed to be after his signature.
These speculations were further fuelled after the German international himself admitted that he had not made up his mind about his future and he was interested in playing abroad at some point of his career.
Some reports also claimed that the defender, whose current deal ends in 2017, had promised Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal that he would be joining Manchester United in the summer.
But the central defender has falsified these reports, insisting that they were all "invented."
"Just to be clear. This alleged "promise" is simply an invention... and that is saying it nicely," Hummels posted on his official Twitter account.
Meanwhile, Victor Valdes says he is very happy at United despite him still not making his senior debut for the club after joining the Red Devils on a free transfer in January.
The 33-year-old, who spent a lengthy spell on the sidelines, following an anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained while playing for Barcelona last March, was allowed training at Old Trafford for a period of 10 weeks to regain his fitness.
Finally Manchester United decided to offer him an 18-month contract after the Spaniard managed to impress Van Gaal in training during that period.
However, the former Barcelona goalkeeper has not made a single appearance for the Red Devils since signing with the club in the winter transfer window.
Still the Spaniard claims that he is happy with his current role at Old Trafford.
"Seriously, I'm happy. It's not so different for my family. I have three children and my eldest kid is five years old and was already studying English in Barcelona, so it's not a big change for him and his brothers," Valdes told the club's official website.
"I'm very happy with my knee and playing with my new team-mates. It's a good feeling to be on the pitch again playing football. It is most important for me after my injury."
