It's been a sad state of affair lately at Manchester United involving the future of Henrikh Mkhitaryan. One of the star players under Jose Mourinho at the start of the season as the Red Devils recorded a flurry of 4-0 wins, the Armenian may have had another big fallout with the former Real Madrid coach, who is known for having a brash attitude.

The Star claimed that Mkhitaryan wanted "showdown talks" with Mourinho over his future at the club and as per TransferMarketWeb, the "talks" did take place between the M's on the weekend.

What transpired was however not known.

Mkhitaryan last played for United on November 5 when Chelsea beat them 1-0. The Armenian wasn't even in the bench as Man City beat the Red Devils 2-1 last weekend. When asked, Mourinho insisted that Mkhitaryan was only having an extended rest.

Now, as the January transfer window approaches, there are immense talks of Arsenal star Mesut Ozil turning out to be the man to replace Mkhitaryan, who is reportedly being chased by Inter Milan as well as his former club Borussia Dortmund.

Signing Ozil will be huge and there is also a huge question mark hovering: If they can indeed manage to pull it off.

Amid all this, highly-rated Hoffenheim midfielder Nadiem Amiri has turned out to be another sensational Manchester United transfer target. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has a market value of £20million and the Red Devils are looking to triggering that buyout clause in the January 2018 transfer window, reports the Sun.

There will be a lot of competition, however, as the North London sides Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the youngster closely.

Amiri plays for the Germany football team, even though his parents are from Afghanistan. Amiri played an integral part for the German U21 team as they beat England and Spain to win the U-21 Euro 2017 championship.

Amiri has a contract with the Bundesliga side until June 30 2020.
