All eyes were on Robin van Persie on Saturday as Manchester United took on Arsenal at Old Trafford, and he scored against his former club just three minutes into the game, disappointing many who supported him for many years.

Robin van Persie left Arsenal for Manchester United in August for a £22m deal and has scored ten goals in 13 matches for his new club.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men defeated Arsenal 2-1, with the Dutch forward putting the team ahead just a few minutes into the game and Patrice Evra doubled the score with a header in the 66th minute.

Santi Cazorla scored for Arsenal in the injury time and reduced the margin to 2-1 but it was a little too late for the visitors to level the score.

In fact, Manchester United should have won by a bigger margin had Wayne Rooney converted the spot kick just before the end of the first half after Santi Cazorla handled Ashley Young's cross. The Red Devils' veteran sent the ball wide, sending the club's penalty misses to four out of six.

Arsenal then received a huge blow in the 69th minutes after midfielder Jack Wilshere was sent off for a second yellow card.

Manchester United is on top of the table with 24 points after winning eight games and lossing two from ten games played. Chelsea is being pushed to the second position following a draw with Swansea City in another match on Saturday. Arsenal is in the sixth position with 15 points.
