"Man of Steel 2" sounds like a name that fans have forgotten amidst "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad". But it looks like the film is back in the news, and this time, not for positive reasons. The latest reports suggest that the Superman movie has been put on "permanent" hold.

According to Den of Greek, filmmaker Jon Schnepp confirmed that "Mad max: Fury Road" director George Miller will direct "Man of Steel 2" and not Zack Snyder. The website also reported that Warner Bros. has put the film on hold as it's planning to work around three Batman (trilogy) movies with Ben Affleck.

Apparently, Miller is also in talks with Warner Bros about the possibility of taking on one of its future DC movies, but it hasn't been decided as to which one it would be.

The report further stated that it's not clear as to what the makers are planning to do by putting "Man of Steel 2" on hold. It speculated that it could either be that they plan to abandon a solo Superman film or maybe the writers are fleshing out fresh story ideas.

The film is suspected to be delayed indefinitely, pointed out the report, which also said that since the DC movie schedule is really packed, there might not be any room for "Man of Steel2".

Well, there is no official confirmation on any of these --- George Miller's association with the DC movie universe, the Batman trilogy or update on "Man of Steel 2". But, given that Batman movies have always been more popular and done better than Superman movies in the past, it only justifies why the makers are giving Batman preference over Superman and putting "Man of Steel 2" on hold.

DC movies-Warner Bros. line-up boasts names like "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice", "Suicide Squad", "Wonder Woman", "Justice League" and "The Flash", and "Man of Steel 2" is clearly missing from this list.

Is it possible that Warner Bros. could be considering phasing out Superman eventually?
