After playing the role of a college lecturer in the 1995 movie Mazhayethum Munpe, Mammootty will again portray the character after a gap of 22 years in an upcoming Malayalam movie.

The yet-to-be-titled project, directed by Ajai Vasudevan, is being scripted by Udayakrishna, who has recently penned the script of the blockbuster Mohanlal-starrer Pulimurugan. Now, with latest news, audience expect to see Mammukka in yet another stylish avatar in the campus entertainer.

A few days ago, the team of Pulimurugan had visited the megastar at the shooting location of his upcoming movie The Great Father, and rumours had it that the they met the actor to discuss about a project. However, Udayakrishna has denied working on a movie with Mammootty and Pulimurugan team together. "It is true that we met him on the sets of his movie a few days ago. But the only Mammootty movie I have signed is the one Ajai Vasudevan will be directing," Udayakrishna told the Times of India.

Udayakrishna has earlier scripted Mammootty's hit movies Pokkiri Raja and Thuruppugulan, while filmmaker Ajai has associated worked with Mammootty in Rajadhi Raja. The upcoming movie is expected to start rolling next year.

Meanwhile, Mammootty is basking in the success of Johny Antony's comedy entertainer Thoppil Joppan, which has been garnering good response from the audience. The movie, which was pitted against Pulimurugan, has been performing decently at the box office even though the Mohanlal-starrer is on the top spot at the Kerala box office.

The megastar's upcoming movie The Great Father, which is being produced by actors Prithviraj Sukumaran, Arya, director Santhosh Sivan and entrepreneur Shaji Natesan, has been scheduled to hit the screens as a Christmas release in December locking horns with Mohanlal's family entertainer Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol.
