Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee on Saturday visited the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata and paid tribute to Mother Teresa on her death anniversary.
Describing the visit as a "deeply moving experience", Banerjee said she felt a sense of warmth, compassion and reflection during her visit. She also met Sr. Mary Joseph M.C., Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity.
Banerjee paid her heartfelt tribute to Mother Teresa, recalling her extraordinary life of service and her contribution to transforming the lives of countless people.
"Her enduring message of love, compassion and service to humanity remains deeply powerful," Banerjee said in a post on X.
She added that she shared a vision for an equal and peaceful India built on love, mutual respect, dignity and compassion.

Mother Teresa, who founded the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, died on September 5, 1997. Her tomb is located at the Mother House of the Missionaries of Charity on A.J.C. Bose Road in Kolkata.
Banerjee's visit came as tributes were paid across the country to Mother Teresa on her death anniversary, remembering her humanitarian work and lifelong commitment to serving the poor and vulnerable.
