Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, one of the prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts, has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

A Mammography test report obtained from the Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital has confirmed that Pragya Singh is suffering from cancer.

Doctors have asked Thakur to get admitted for treatment, but she refused saying that she would get hospitalised only after performing some "rituals," PTI reported.

Superintendent of Bhopal Central Jail M R Patel told PTI that authorities couldn't hospitalised her without her permission.

Thakur is the one of the main accused in the Malegaon blasts that occurred on Sept 29, 2008, and in the former RSS worker Sunil Joshi murder case. For the murder trial of Joshi she was brought to Bhopal from Mumbai last year.

Thakur's family had earlier revealed in July that she was suffering from the illness and blamed the government for her deteriorating health condition.

Bhagwan Jha, her brother-in-law, told media that the state government and prison authorities have been neglecting her health. Jha said that the Indian Cancer Society at the Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai has confirmed Thakur's diagnosis.

"She has been suffering from several other ailments. The Maharashtra ATS and the state government are responsible for her condition," Jha said last year, according to Mail Today.
