A Malaysia Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing at the Chennai airport early on Thursday due to a technical snag.

The Malaysia Airlines flight, MH19, flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, landed at Chennai airport at 2.30 am on Thursday, ANI news agency has reported.

The flight had 230 passengers on board and was at the Chennai airport for two hours, taking off at 4.30 am.

According to FlightRadar24, which monitors international flights, the Malaysia Airlines flight made two 'U-turns' over India.

It is not clear what technical problem the plane was facing.

Malaysia Airlines faced a major blow in 2014 when one of its planes, MH370, went missing after taking off from Kuala Lumpur on 8 March last year, while another plane, MH17, was shot down in Ukraine.
