Days after Malayalam actor-mimicry artiste Sagar Shiyas passed away, script writer TA Razaq (also spelled Rasaq and Razzaq) died on Monday, Aug. 15. He was 58.

The screenwriter was undergoing  treatment for liver related ailments for quite some time now and breathed his last at a private hospital in Kochi on Monday night. His mortal remains were kept at Moyinkutty Vaidyar Memorial Hall in Kondotty on Aug. 16 and was buried at 11 a.m. at Juma Masjid on Tuesday.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, celebrities including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Jayaram, Neeraj Madhav and Madhu Warrier, have expressed condolence messages through their social media pages.

"I am deeply saddened by the demise of TA Razaq. He death is a great loss for the Malayalam entertainment industry. I express my heartfelt condolences to his family members [translated from Malayalam]," Pinarayi wrote on his official Facebook page named Chief Minister's Office, Kerala.

The noted writer, who hails from Kondotty in Malappuram, has been a part of as many as 30 movies. Razaq began his career as a screenplaty writer with the Mohanlal-starrer "Vishnulokam" in 1991 and is known for his projects "Naadody," "Gazal," "Saaphalyam," "The Prince," "Vesham," "Rappakal" and "Uthaman" among many others. His last movie was the Kalabhavan Mani-starrer "Aayirathil Oruvan," for which he bagged the Kerala State Film Award for Best Story. He is also the is the receipient of the state awards three other times for movies "Kanakinnavu" and "Perumazhakkalam."
