Malayalam actor TP Madhavan was admitted to the city hospital in Haridwar on Friday afternoon after he collapsed in an ashram where he had been staying, as per reports.

The actor had come to Haridwar a week ago to offer prayers at the local Ayyappa temple. He was found unconscious in his room on 23 October.

Madhavan, who is suffering from heart problems, has no one to look after him, reported Manorama Online. His relatives were also not available when contacted.

The doctors have reportedly said that the actor has to be put under observation for three days.

The actor who entered Malayalam cinema as a villain four decades ago has also donned several comedy and character roles.

Madhavan debuted in "Raagam" (1975), which also had veteran actors like Sharada, Sukumari, Adoor Bhasi, Shankaradi, Bahadoor and Jose Prakash in pivotal roles.
