According to TeamBHP, Mahindra has silently started recalling its XUV500 model that came with speed alloy wheels. Speed alloy wheels in Mahindra XUV500 come as optional which is available at the company dealerships. Apparently, Mahindra is contacting customers who have XUV500 with speed alloys to check if their vehicles have the defect; and if they do, the company will replace it free of cost.

One XUV500 owner from Chennai, Rakesh, told forum Team BHP about his accident that took place due to the defect. He said the alloys just broke off when the vehicle was in motion. In another incident, the alloy was seen cracked.

Earlier in February, Mahindra had recalled its XUV500 to upgrade the side-curtain airbag software
