The latest buzz on the web is that Mahindra's upcoming micro-SUV S101 will feature only the 1.2 litre diesel and petrol engines and there won't be 1.5 litre diesel mill.

A report in MotorOctane, which claimed to have the confirmation from the UV maker reveals that the soon-to-be-launched S101's powerplant will include 1.2 diesel and petrol mills. While the petrol mill of the Mahindra S101 is likely to be an all-new engine developed by the company, the diesel mill could be the watered-down version of 1.5-litre mHawk engine that powers the company's recently launched TUV300.

The Mahindra S101, the six-seater model which is said to have been developed with SUV-traits, will be competing against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Wagon R in India. This also means that the S101 is also likely to come with an affordable price tag in the range of around Rs 4.5 lakh.

Built on a new monocoque platform, the Mahindra S101 is expected to get a 3+3 seating configuration with bench-type seat in the front. On the safety front, it is likely to include anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags and an electronic stability programme.

The sub-four metre mini-SUV is also likely to come with AMT variant. Although the name of the S101 has not been revealed yet, names such as KUV100, CUV100 and XUV100 have been doing the rounds.
