Mahindra & Mahindra is on a launch spree in the current fiscal year. The company has said it will launch 10 models before April 2016.

The seventh model is the KUV100 compact SUV of which the company had shared details on 18 December (Friday). The compact SUV will be launched in January and, to make it more glitzy, Mahindra has roped in Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan to endorse the product.

According to Mahindra, the KUV100 targets customers below the age of 30, which makes for 60% of India's population. Mahindra also stressed that this target group wanted to stand-out in the world with their modern lifestyle and a get-it-now attitude. Hence it made perfect sense bringing a young Bollywood actor to endorse the new vehicle. The alphabet 'K' in KUV100 stands for 'Kool' which is usually associated with the younger generation.

This is not the first time Mahindra has made headlines with endorsement from top stars. The company roped in Baahubali movie fame Prabhas when it launched the TUV300 compact SUV in 10 September 2015.

Mahindra KUV100 is built on an all-new platform. The compact SUV will be powered by an all-new range of petrol and diesel engines named as the mFalcon. The mFalcon 1.2-litre G80 petrol engine will develop 82bhp at 5,500rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500-3,600rpm.

The mFalcon CRDe 1.2-litre diesel engine will develop 77bhp at 3,750rpm and 190Nm of torque at 1,750-2250rpm. Both the engines will come mated to a manual gearbox and there are no plans to bring in the AMT gearbox at present.
