Mahindra and Mahindra is set to pull the wraps off its new compact SUV — NuvoSport — in India April 4. Now ahead of the NuvoSport's launch in the country, some dealers of the company have started accepting bookings for the model.

The dealer-level bookings for the soon-to-be-launched car can be done for a down-payment of Rs. 10,000, IndianAutos Blog reports. Mahindra NuvoSport, the third offering of the company in the compact SUV segment, is likely to be positioned between the TUV300 and the KUV100. The model will replace Mahindra Quanto in the market.

Mahindra NuvoSport has been designed and developed in-house by the company's design team, and its research and development has been carried out at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai. The NuvoSport is expected to continue with the same 1.5-litre Quanto engine, which will develop 100bhp of power and 240Nm of torque. The model is expected to be sold in four variants — N4, N4+, N6 and N8.

Underpinning the new-generation platform as the Scorpio, the NuvoSport is expected to be priced around Rs. 6.5 lakh. It is expected to pack a new infotainment system with touchscreen, eight-way adjustable seats with lumbar support and a new steering wheel.

Mahindra NuvoSport will take on the likes of Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in India.
