Just days ahead of the World Environment Day, which is observed on June 5, Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the first electric sedan in India. The e-Verito is priced at Rs. 9.5 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi for the base D2 variant. The electric sedan is also available in D4 and D6 variants, priced at Rs. 9.75 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh respectively. The e-Verito, the second electric car from Mahindra Electric, was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. It reappeared at the Auto Expo 2016 in the beginning of February.

The e-Verito is powered by a 3-phase 72V electric motor that produces 40bhp and 91Nm of toque right from the start of acceleration. The company claims a top speed of 86kmph for the car, and a range of 110km on a full charge. With Mahindra's fast charge the car can be fully charged in less than two hours.

According to Mahindra, the e-Verito comes with a running cost of Rs. 1.15 per km. The vehicle comes equipped with a boost mode and Telematics, which will provide real time and immediate assistance around the clock. In addition to the electric powertrain, the e-Verito also gets low resistance tyres and regenerative braking to charge the battery during braking. The exterior design will not undergo any changes, yet special decals will differentiate the e-Verito from the regular Verito variants.

Mahindra will start the sale of e-Verito in Delhi initially. It plans to add cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Nagpur to the list soon. The e-Verito benefits from the price discount extended to electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturers under the Fame scheme of the Union government, which offers incentives of up to Rs. 29,000 and Rs. 1.38 lakh on each bike and car, respectively.

The first electric car of Mahindra, the E2o, has been priced at Rs. 6.75 lakh ex-showroom, Bengaluru. Mahindra will also launch the e-Supremo, a fully electric commercial vehicle, soon.
