Guwahati, Jan 13 (ANI): Celebrations of harvest festival Magh Bihu are in full swing in Guwahati city of Assam with fairs being set up. A five day fair from January 9 to January 13 was organized to mark the celebration of the harvest festival. The fair serves as a platform for people to know about their culture and traditional food. Fair organizer Binita Deka said that besides providing a market, people are given fresh food items through this fair, which are often difficult to access. Some of the traditional food items that were prepared include Pitha, Tilar Laru, Sunga Pitha, Tekeli Pitha, rice cakes and coconut sweets. Traditional rice grinder called "Dheki" was also being exhibited during the fair and women were seen grinding rice for rice cake preparations.
