French carmaker Renault will launch the India-made Kwid in Indonesia in the coming days. The Kwid, the entry-level model that turned the table for the carmaker in India will also be the cheapest model of Renault in Indonesia.

The Kwid is expected to be launched in Indonesia on October 20. While it is not clear which of the variants of the Kwid will go on sales in the new market, the reports from Indonesia indicate that it would be the 1.0 litre avatar. Renault Kwid is sold in 800cc and 1000cc variants in India. The Kwid will be exported to Indonesia as CBU (Completely Built Unit) from the company's facility in Chennai, India.

In India, the Kwid was originally launched with a 799cc three-cylinder petrol motor tuned to churn out 53bhp at 5,678rpm and a peak torque of 72Nm at 4,386rpm and was later joined by 999cc 3-cylinder engine version that can churn out 67bhp of power at 5500rpm and 91Nm of torque at 4250rpm.

Renault Kwid, an entry-level car with total package of style and technology, houses a 7-inch touchscreen Media Nav system, digital Instrument cluster, one-touch lane change indicator and pro-sense seat belt pretensioners. The small car with SUV-stance, which made its entry in the market in September last year, has raked in over 1.65 lakh bookings in the country and continues to have a waiting period of over six months in some cities.

Buoyed by the success of the Kwid, Renault is also expected to introduce the AMT (automated manual transmission) avatar of the model soon. Reports suggest that both the 800cc and 1.0 litre Kwid are likely to get AMT box.
