The official video of the "Lungi Dance", a tribute to superstar Rajininikanth, has been released.

"Chennai Express" stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone groove to the song crooned by rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh. The song titled "Thalaivar Tribute" has been composed by Honey Singh and is a tribute to Rajinikanth, who is one of the biggest stars of Indian cinema.

"The Thalaivar(r) Tribute to Rajani Sir is out. Lungi Dance. Seemed apt if u make a film called Chennai Exp..u need to bow to the greatest," Shah Rukh tweeted.

Following its release, the video went viral on social media circles. The tribute song has received more than 37,000 viewers within a day of its release.

SRK and Honey Singh decided to work on the song as they were huge fans of Rajinikanth and wanted to pay a musical tribute to the superstar. Deepika Padukone was also approached by SRK for the song, which the actress happily agreed to be part of as she is also a big fan of Rajini.

"I found it very apt for Rajni sir and wanted to be a part of it as a fan of one of the greatest actors we have. Deepika, on my request, happily agreed to be a part of the song because even she is a huge fan of Rajni sir. The song is fun, happy and completely Rajnikanth Style!," Shah Rukh was once quoted as saying by Press Trust of India.

Interestingly, Deepika is the leading lady in Rajinikanth's upcoming film "Kochadaiyaan", directed by his daughter Soundarya. The epic drama is claimed to be India's first film made in 3D motion capturing technology.

Rajini has always been regarded as the biggest star in the south Indian film industry. But the success of "Robot" ("Endhiran") has catapulted the actor to international stardom.

The special "Thalaivaar Tribute" song will be a big treat for Rajini's fans across the globe.
