Just a few weeks after images of coloured back panels of the rumoured low-cost Apple iPhone 5C (aka iPhone Lite) hit the internet, a supposed snapshot of a key camera component of the smartphone has been leaked online.
Chinese website, IT168, has posted an alleged picture of the camera module of the Apple's cheap smartphone iPhone 5C. The component shown in the photo looks identical to the one seen in the current iPhone 5 handset which boasts of an 8.0-megapixel camera with sapphire-based crystal scratch-resistant shield, contradicting the earlier reports that suggested iPhone 5C would feature a 5.0-megapixel camera. Many tech blogs have opined that the iPhone 5C would feature certain key specification of the premium model, but Apple might use plastic case and low-powered chipset to keep the cost low.
According to earlier reports, low-cost iPhone is rumoured to sport a 3.5-inch screen and run on the latest iOS v7.0 powered by a two generation old Apple A5 processor.
Chinese supplier, Pegatron is reportedly said to have bagged the contract from Apple to manufacture the low-cost 'iPhone 5C'. Few days ago, local media houses in the neighboring country had reported that Pegatron, which already boasts of 100,000 plus workforce, is planning to hire an additional 40,000 workers in the second half to meet the production deadline.
