"Longmire" fans were saved from heartache when Netflix decided to take over the crime drama series just ahead of Season 4. Now, the streaming service has renewed the show based on the "Walt Longmire Mysteries" series for Season 5.

We may not have an exact date for the premiere of Season 5 Episode 1 of "Longmire", but it is expected to be released in the second half of 2016. Netflix does have the habit of surprising its viewers by announcing the release dates for its original series just weeks ahead, so we can expect a similar trend with "Longmire" as well.

Much like the previous seasons, Season 5 of "Longmire", too, will have 10 episodes, and will see Robert Taylor and Katee Sackhoff return as the titular Walt Longmire and Vic Moretti respectively. While we all patiently wait for the return of "Longmire", the show-runners have been teasing us with the possible romantic future of the lead characters.

On Tuesday, 5 January, the "Longmire" Facebook profile posted a photo of Walt and Vic together with the caption: "What does the future hold for Walt and Vic?" While the book series saw romantic tension between Vic and Walt, most fans are quite against the idea of the two as a couple.

"i hope nothing - I don't want them as a couple! (sic)" a fan wrote in response to the post. Many fans also feel Vic is too immature for Walt, and that the older cop sees her as more of a daughter than a love interest.

Quite a few fans, who have also liked the books, on the other hand, want Walt and Vic to get together on the show. "it'd be nice for a change to have a TV show actually follow the books. Walt and Vic have a thing.. in EVERY book..he has a DOG, and is somewhat of a cheerful lech, (sic)" says one from the "Vic-Walt" team.

Meanwhile, the show itself has introduced a love interest for Walt in the last few episodes of Season 4: Dr Donna (Aly Walker). She was with Walt at his home when an intruder interrupted their intimate moments. She is part of the cliffhanger for Season 5 and therefore will definitely be back in the upcmong episodes, but how long will she last?

Many fans hope she will be present for a while, especially if it keeps Walt and Vic away from each other. What do you think?
