Alleppey, Aug 10 (ANI): Locals thronged the 62nd edition of the traditional Nehru Trophy Boat Race held at Punnamada Lake where Oarsmen raced furiously in Alleppey city of Kerala. The snake boat race, also known as the Nehru trophy boat race heralded the tourist season in Kerala Kerala Governor Sheila Dikshit flagged off the boat race. As many as 72 boats, including 22 snake boats, country boats and tableaux participated in this year's event. Large number of villagers and tourist gathered to witness the spectacular water event.
