Lalgarh, Aug 28 (ANI): Local police in West Bengal recovered a landmine along with a rifle near Lalgarh village in west Midnapur district. Police officials said that it was not clear how the mine had got there. The landmine which was placed near a canal leading to Lalgarh was later defused. The village caught media attention in November 2008 when guerilla Maoists launched an attack on police forces and cadres of the political party, Communist Party of India -Marxist (CPI-M). In 2009, Operation Lalgarh was launched by security forces to smoke out the Maoists from the region.
