Ahead of the forthcoming Republic Day, Pakistan violated the ceasefire in the Keran sector of the Kupwara district of north Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC).
For the first time after Operation Sindoor, the Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire on the LoC in the Kashmir province. Last month, the Pakistani Army resorted to unprovoked firing along the LoC in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri.
As the Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire, soldiers of the Indian Army effectively and strongly retaliated against this action from across the LoC.
Officials said the firing was unprovoked, and troops responded with heavy cross-border fire, forcing the adversary to fall silent.

No casualties or damage were reported from either side during the incident. Officials said the situation along the Line of Control in the area remained under control following the brief exchange.
Security agencies are maintaining close surveillance in the sector, officials added.
Reports said that firing has been stopped, and tension flared up along the LoC ahead of the Republic Day.

IED recovered from Shopian
In another incident, security forces have achieved a major breakthrough and have tightened security ahead of Republic Day. A team of the 44 RR recovered a six-kilogram IED in a forest in the Awnira area of Shopian district during a search operation.
Security forces defused the explosive device in a controlled manner. Officials stated that the operation ensured the security of the area and the safety of the general public. Security agencies have increased vigilance in the area and are closely monitoring potential threats.
