BJP veteran LK Advani, former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and BJP MLA Kailash Gahlot are among prominent voters who have been served notices over discrepancies identified during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Delhi, officials said.
The notices have been issued under two categories — "no mapping", where voters could not be linked to the previous electoral roll, and "logical discrepancies", where inconsistencies were found in the details submitted by voters.
Gahlot, a former minister in the AAP government who is now a BJP MLA, was flagged under the "no mapping" category. His wife Moushumi Mishra Gahlot and elder daughter Jahnavi Gahlot were also served notices under the same category.
Sisodia, a voter in the New Delhi Assembly constituency, also received a notice, although the specific reason was not mentioned. His wife Seema and son Meer were also flagged, with the former facing a self-name mismatch and the latter a parent-name mismatch.
Other prominent voters who have received notices include former Delhi chief minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, former BJP leader Subramanian Swamy and former Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva.
According to Delhi election authorities, more than 31.63 lakh notices had been generated as of Saturday, while around 33.13 lakh electors in the draft roll were identified for notices over discrepancies. Voters receiving notices are required to submit their replies and supporting documents to the concerned electoral registration officer.
The draft electoral roll published on August 31 contained around 97.54 lakh electors, compared with 1.45 crore voters on the June 30 roll. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on November 4, while the claims and objections process will continue until September 30.
Election officials said prominent voters who received notices would be facilitated in the verification process and their documents collected. The exercise is part of the ongoing effort to verify and update Delhi's electoral rolls.
