Indian football superstar Sunil Chhetri has considered Barcelona magician Lionel Messi as one of his inspirations and it seems the Bengaluru FC hotshot could well be following Messi, when it comes to marriage as well.
After it was announced on Thursday that the Argentina footballer was all set to tie the knot with long-time girlfriend Antonella Roccuzzo, Chhetri also is reportedly tying the knot next year -- with Sonam Bhattacharya.
For those who have no clue of who she is, Sonam is the daughter of Mohun Bagan legend Subrata Bhattacharya, who is into coaching these days. Sonam also runs two hotels in Kolkata's Salt Lake area and is a business management graduate from Scotland.
The date of wedding, just like Messi's, hasn't been revealed as yet. However, it is being expected that both footballers are getting married early 2017.
"Yes, Sunil came and met us. They have been in a relationship and I think they should be happy for the rest of their lives," Subrata Bhattacharya told Hindustan Times on Friday.
"I have seen Sunil grow as a footballer. I got him to Kolkata Maidan in 2003 and he has improved as a footballer. I can compare him to Xavier Pius [fomer Mohun Bagan striker] of our times. He is a good lad and I like his innocence," he added.
There is a difference between Messi and Chhetri, however. Messi and Antonella have two children together -- four-year-old Tiago and one-year-old Mateo.
