"Lingaa" has already created a record for a south Indian film in terms of screen count. The film will be releasing in over 3,000 screens worldwide. There is a huge buzz surrounding the project, thanks to Rajini's star power. (Also Read: "Lingaa Movie Review")

The advance booking for the film has received fantastic response and tickets have been completely sold out for the weekend in several theatres. Premiere shows have been arranged in key overseas markets like the United States, while in India early morning shows have been planned.

"Lingaa" is expected to create opening day records considering the huge pre-release buzz. While the film is likely to have a fantastic opening weekend, its collections during the weekdays will depend on how well the film is received by the audience.

Once the film hits the screens, social media will be abuzz with reviews and feedback about the Rajini starrer. If the film manages to garner positive reviews, it is likely to continue its good run even during the weekdays. Strong word of mouth will help the film register big collections at the box office.

"Lingaa" will be the year's last big release and there are huge expectations about the film. Trade experts and fans will be eager to see if the action-drama flick will be able to break "Endhiran" and "Kaththi" opening day collections at the Tamil Nadu box office.

According to reports, "Endhiran" minted around ₹11 crore on the first day in Tamil Nadu, while "Kaththi" raked in approximately ₹12.5 crore. The Vijay starrer is currently the highest grossing Tamil film of 2014 and "Lingaa" is expected to break that record to emerge on top.

"Lingaa" might also score better collections (worldwide) than "Kaththi" as the Rajini starrer will be releasing in both Tamil and Telugu versions, while Vijay's film was released in Tamil alone. The Telugu version of "Lingaa" is also likely to fare well considering that the superstar has a strong fan base among Telugu audience.

Directed by KS Ravi Kumar, "Lingaa" has Rajinikanth, Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha in pivotal roles. AR Rahman has composed the music, while Rathnavelu has handled the cinematography. The film is produced by Rockline Venkatesh and distributed by Eros International.
