Korean consumer electronics company LG has unveiled a new flip-phone dubbed Wine Smart, on Wednesday (5 August).

The new flip-phone was originally launched as 'Gentle' in South Korea last month and now LG has decided to release the device with the name 'Wine Smart' in global markets.

"Our goal with LG Wine Smart was to create a smartphone that fans of flip phones could embrace," said Chris Yie, vice president and head of marketing communications, LG Mobile Communications Company.

"Consumers shouldn't have to miss out on the smartphone revolution because they prefer a particular phone design over another. With LG Wine Smart, they won't have to," he added.

The LG Wine Smart sports a 3.2-inch HVGA screen with 3x4 numeric key pad and runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.

Under the hood, it comes packed with 1.1GHz quad-core SoC (System-on-Chip), 1GB RAM, 4GB storage, 1700 mAh battery, a 3mp camera on the back and a VGA snapper on the front.

LG Wine Smart Release Details:

The company has confirmed that the new LG Wine Smart will initially be available in France, Italy, Poland, Spain, Kazakhstan and Japan this month and later, in other markets.

As of now, there is no official word on the price of the device. The LG Gentle costs 2,00,000 South Korean Won (around $171/€157/₹10,880) in LG's home market, so it is expected to cost a little extra in other regions, considering customs duty.
