South Korean consumer electronics giant, LG has announced that the company's flagship G4 will receive the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow update next week.
"By working closely with Google, LG has been able to bring Android 6.0 to the G4 ahead of any of our competitors," said Chris Yie, vice president and head of marketing communications for LG Mobile Communications Company.
"While speed alone isn't an indicator of great service, it does go a long way toward giving consumers the confidence that LG is committed to its existing customers first," he added.
Android M deployment process for LG G4 will begin initially in Poland next week and then the roll-out will later expand to other regions of Europe, America and Asia.
With the announcement, LG G4 will be world's first non-Nexus series smartphone to taste Google's new sugar treat flavoured mobile OS.
Rivals HTC, Huawei, Motorola and Sony too have announced the Android Marshmallow eligible devices, but are yet to reveal the ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) of the update.

For the uninitiated, Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes with native support for fingerprint sensor input, leaner and faster Chrome browser, more intuitive Now on Tap feature, new security feature verified boot system, support for more international dialects, new contextual assistance feature, Google photos and auto back-up from where all apps user data (less than 25MB) will automatically be stored in Google Drive.

The key attribute of Marshmallow is the Doze power saving feature, which has been incorporated to extend battery life by at least 30% depending on the device's internal hardware.
