South Korean consumer electronics giant, LG on 27 May finally pulled the wraps-off the much awaited flagship phone G3 in London, UK.

Though the new phone keeps the design language of its predecessor, G3 does exude refined and elegant out-look with infusion of metal. The company has also upgraded its internal hardware as well.

To get a clear perspective between the two G series siblings, we have done a quick specification rundown of G3 and its predecessor, G2.

Design:

When LG G2 made its debut in August 2013, many critics and fans felt odd about the smartphone's un-orthodox placing of the power and volume rockers on the rear-side, just below camera module. [It came with hard plastic case]

This year too, the South Korean company has stick to the same design principle, but the new phone G3 looks more ergonomically refined, which company likes to call it as the 'floating arc form' with elegant curvier corners and the addition of the shiny metallic rear-side has given true premium feeling, similar to the rival HTC One (M8).

Display:

Months prior to the launch of Galaxy S5, many reports had indicated that Samsung phone would boast QHD (2560x1440p), but all speculations fell flat after the official launch. Same reports followed leading up to LG G3, The South Korean did not disappoint. By doing so, LG has become the first tier-1 brand in the industry to introduce a smartphone with 2K display with a staggering pixel density of 538 ppi (pixels per inch)

2013-model LG G2 flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD LCD screen having pixel density of 423 ppi.

Processor, RAM and Storage:

The third generation LG flagship device ships with 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 series processor and is available in two storage variants - 16GB (with 2GB RAM) and 32GB (3GB RAM) eMMC models with options of expansions up to 128 GB

Whereas the LG G packed a 2.3GHz 800 –series quad-core processor backed by Adreno 330, 2GB RAM and came in 16GB and 32GB storage with options for expansions up to 64GB.

Camera:

The new G3 houses a 13.0-megapixel camera with OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilization Plus) and Laser auto-focus feature, which no other top-end phone in the industry boasts off. This feature measures the distance between the subject and the camera using a laser beam enabling quick capture of good quality photos even under low-light conditions.

LG G2 too houses a pretty much same camera specifications like 13.0-megapixel rear-side camera with LED flash, OIS feature sans the innovative laser auto-focus.

Both devices come loaded with a 2.1-megapixel camera on the front.

Mobile Operating System:

With the latest Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS update already released to G2 across the world, there is no added advantage in owning the new G3, sans the value-added features like intuitive Smart Keyboard, Smart security and others.

Smart Key board (intuitive feature learns user writing habits and predicts words in future texting), Smart Notice (this more like Google Now feature which recommends suggestion, like suggesting user to take umbrella by refer temperature and weather data from internet) and Smart Security (this will provide kill switch to user, if they ever lose the phone, he/she can remotely disable phone and clear data. The feature also provides folder lock options as well).
