LG G3 with QHD Display, Snapdragon 801 Series CPU Launched in India

South Korean consumer electronics giant, LG on 21 July officially launched the flagship smartphone G3 in India.

LG G3 made its global debut in late May, two months ahead of its predecessor's one year cycle to give rivals a stiff challenge very early in the year. It flaunts 5.5-inch QHD (2560x1440p) IPS screen with a staggering pixel density of 538 ppi (pixels per inch), making it the first tier-a brand to boast this kind of high-resolution display.

Another striking feature of LG G3 is that it houses a unique 13.0-megapixel camera with a laser based auto-focus, which no other top-end phone in the industry boasts of.

For the uninitiated, this feature measures the distance between the subject and the camera using a laser beam enabling quick capture of good quality photos even under low-light conditions. It also boasts of OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilization Plus). On the front, it comes loaded with a 2.1-megapixel snapper.

Other stipulated specifications include Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS, 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 series quad-core CPU, Adreno 330, 16GB (2GB RAM)/32GB (3GB RAM) eMMC inbuilt storage (expandable up to 128GB) and a 3,000 mAh battery.

LG G3 also boasts of some added features such as Knock Code screen unlocker, Smart Key board (intuitive feature learns user's writing habits and predicts words in future texting), Smart Notice (this is more like Google Now feature, which recommends suggestion, like foretelling user to take an umbrella by referring to local area climate data from the Internet) and Smart Security, this will empower users' with a 'kill switch,' wherein if they ever lose the phone, they can remotely disable the phone and clear data. This feature also provides folder lock options as well.

LG G3 - 16GB and 32GB variants costs - ₹47,990 and ₹50,990 respectively. The company is also selling limited edition (numbering 15,000) Big B models with Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan's signature embellishment and few lucky buyers will also have the opportunity to meet the cinema legend.

Besides LG G3, the company also announced smartphone accessory - QuickCircle cover-case (₹3,500) as well as showcased the Android Wear OS powered smart-device G Watch. It is currently retailing at the Google Play Store for ₹14,999 [For more information, click here].
